Four goals
Ola Pua has four main goals for users of its support services:

Reduce negative and unnecessary emotions and stress
Negative emotions are natural and sometimes even necessary, but they can also become excessive and harmful.

Manage stress and negative emotions
Short-term stress can be beneficial (increasing alertness and strengthening the immune system), but it can be harmful if it becomes long-term or uncontrolled.

Enhance your everyday emotional well-being
Wouldn't you like to not only feel less negative emotions, but more positive ones too? Enjoy the big moments and the little ones.

Cultivating life satisfaction and flourishing
For many people, the purpose of life is not just to feel pleasure, but to be satisfied with life and live a fulfilling life.

The name
"Ola Pua" is Hawaiian.
Ola: life, to live

The content of the service will be determined based on the your needs, but here are four main methods:
① Organizing and Adjusting Thoughts
Together, we'll sort through your thoughts and reflect on thinking patterns or directions that may be influencing how you feel and act.
② Sharing Knowledge
You’ll gain easy-to-understand insights and practical hints drawn from psychology, neuroscience, and other related fields, based on your circumstances.
③ Designing and Practicing Actions
We’ll identify the specific themes or issues you wish to work on and create concrete steps to put ideas into action.
④ Reviewing and Evaluating Progress
We’ll look back on what you’ve done, reflect on how effective it was, and connect the learning to the future.

Having studied mental health and wellbeing at graduate school, I am committed to connecting different disciplines to help you live a better life, which is a slightly different approach to general services.
For example, psychotherapists and clinical psychologists are professionally trained to focus on the "negative aspects" of people, such as mental health issues and disorders. In many cases, the focus is on specific aspects of the person, and there is little emphasis on supporting the whole person.
In fact, factors such as lifestyle habits, values, and purpose in life tend to be overlooked, even though they have a significant impact on mental health. (This is in no way intended to disparage the respected psychologists! 😅)
On the other hand, positive psychology gives us tools to improve our daily mood and live a more fulfilling life, but it is not enough to overcome the negative. And neither clinical psychology nor positive psychology has much to say about how to design our environment to shape our behavior and habits. That's where behavioral science comes in.
That's why I developed my own program.
We want to focus on your strengths (that you may not even be aware of) and help you use them to overcome challenges. By combining knowledge, wisdom, and approaches from different disciplines, we want to support your growth and help you tackle everyday challenges. 💪🏻
We deeply respect the knowledge (and sometimes philosophical thinking) that comes from high-quality scientific research, but that alone isn't enough. We want to be a presence that you can comfortably connect with as people. We strive to be people you want to talk to and good companions to walk alongside. 😎
